Message from the Headteacher

Friday 14th June 2013

Hello everyone,
It’s been another busy week at Morningside. Miss Marcangelo took a group of 26 children to Millfields Park yesterday. Some of the activities we took part in were football, boxing, dance, athletics and cricket. The children were very impressed that they were coached by footballers from Arsenal FC and a boxer from Team GB. Miss Marcangelo said, “The kids had an absolute blast and were a pleasure to take. They made me very proud to be a member of Morningside!”

Year one have been learning about materials and their properties. They took pictures of different materials around school, using our new iPads. They also did some sketches of the differences between the old and newer buildings on the school grounds.

Mr Martin took a group of year five children to the Urswick school for a special STEM day. The children really enjoyed the activities which included experimenting with a rocket!

Year six have started their transition work with secondary schools. The projects will get them excited about the big move in September and will help to answer any questions they have.

The Learning trust did a one day review of the school last week. There was lots to celebrate—they said the learning environment was calm and purposeful and behaviour was good throughout the school. They also commented on how hard the staff are working to make Morningside even better for our children. Well done everyone!

Have a great weekend.
Janet
