healthy foodPacked Lunches

It is important for children to be given a healthy packed lunch each day. A balanced meal makes a child alert and ready to aim high with their learning.

A balanced packed lunch should contain:

  • Bread, rice, potatoes or pasta
  • Meat, fish, eggs or beans (this can be put in a sandwich or wrap)
  • Cheese or yoghurt
  • Portion of fruit, for example, apple, banana, pear, grapes, satsuma or strawberries.

Foods which should not be put in a packed lunch:

Crisps, chocolates, fizzy drinks, biscuit bars or anything sugary.

Please do come and talk to us if you would like some ideas about how to provide healthy meals for your child.

Water

We also encourage children to bring water bottles (not juice) to drink throughout the day.
