School Development Plan Priorities 2016-17

Outcome 1 Leadership and Management

  • All leaders to reinforce and model high expectations and to maintain high morale and positive feeling at Morningside
  • Develop and implement an approach to measuring and comparing pupil attainment and progress
  • To develop an integrated approach to tracking, evidencing and reporting on pupil achievement
  • PPG is deployed efficiently and reviewed accurately
  • Cultural differences to be celebrated
  • MLT to use robust work logs, driven by progress, to improve teaching
  • School readiness procedures for Nursery and Reception; secondary transfers and KS1 are highly effective
  • Parental engagement impacts positively on the children
  • Maintain and build on the high number of enrichment opportunities


Outcome 2 Behaviour and Safety

  • To build on good behaviour for learning and further develop positive attitudes to work and collaborative learning
  • Ensure new pupil inductions are effective
  • To encourage parents to engage with school policies and expectations


Outcome 3 Teaching and Learning

  • To ensure 100% of teaching is Good and 50% is Outstanding
  • To ensure robust induction systems are rapidly improving the quality of teaching and learning for early stage teachers and teachers new to the school
  • To develop more effective strategies to support the progress of SEN and EAL pupils


Outcome 4 Achievement

  • To ensure that attainment at the end of KS2 and KS1 is above national in reading, writing and maths
  • To ensure that progress from KS1 to KS2 exceeds national expectations (taking into account the uncertainty of baseline data)
  • To increase the % of pupils achieving L3 in KS1
  • To accelerate progress and further close attainment gaps



Outcome 5 Early Years

  • Ensure outcomes at end of EYFS demonstrate good progress and close gaps, especially in reading, writing and physical development
  • Develop leadership capacity
  • Increase % of outstanding provision
